Mermaid Room

This gallery features colored pencil drawings by Millicent Rogers. These whimsical drawings show a side of Millicent not seen in the public eye.

These drawings were created in the 1930s while she lived in Austria and was ill and not able to leave her bedroom. This particular set of drawings was created after Millicent shared the story of “The Little Mermaid” by Hans Christian Anderson with her three sons. The drawings follow the Anderson’s story somewhat, but Millicent took creative license in developing a different storyline.
