Adult Education

Are you interested in learning more about the museum and becoming part of an active group who are passionate about the arts and cultures of the Southwest? The Museum’s docent program includes training on each of the major areas of the permanent collection as well as field trips to other museums and cultural sites and informal talks and demonstrations by local artists, craftspeople and historians.

Our volunteer docent program begins with an intensive weekly study program that includes rich content about the historyand cultures of the southwest as well as instruction in how to give a tour. This includes programs bycurators, collectors, dealers and more. There will be readings distributed during each session. Before graduating, docents will presentan original program on some aspect of the collection.

Docents meet regularly to hear from noted speakers and learn about the manyychanging exhibitions at the museum.
