Whether your tastes range from prehistoric pottery to contemporary jewelry, the MRM is the place to experience all the cultures of the Southwest and under one roof. As you walk through our twenty galleries and exhibition spaces, you too will make your own discoveries about the heritage of the Hispanic, Native American and Anglo arts of the Southwest.
A special highlight of the museum is the magnificent turquoise jewelry collected and owned by fashionista Millicent Rogers for whom the museum is named. Her collection includes the famous "Tab Necklace" that she purchased for $5000 in the 1940s.
Also not to be missed is the permanent exhibition of materials donated by the family of Maria Martinez, the famed San Ildefonso Pueblo potter. On a first name basis with Presidents and First Ladies, Maria was the foremost Native American potter of the 20th century. This collection is a must see for those interested in the history of pueblo pottery making.
To visit the Millicent Rogers Museum is to see 2000 years of Southwestern history!
With spectacular views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, the Millicent Rogers Museum is housed in a historic Southwestern hacienda. The building was generously given to the museum by the Anderson family of Taos. The building has been updated and includes a noteworthy addition by the famed New York architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Today, visitors comment upon the wonderfully intimate spaces where every turn leads you to discover more and more about the arts and cultures of the Southwest. With lots of free parking and easy handicapped access, the museum is open and welcoming to all. Click here for map to MRM.
